Waterless Urinals

July 10, 2019 by irving

Irving’s Plumbing offers waterless urinals capable of saving you up to as much as 100,000 liters of water or more per year per fixture. This exciting new product by Water Matrixcompletely eliminates water and sewer costs normally incurred by conventional urinals. As water usage, perhaps our most precious resource, continues to rise, architects, builders, planners and environmentalists around the world are looking for new alternatives. With the no flush valve, waterless systems not only promise to reduce water usage, vandalism, maintenance and repair costs will also become a thing of the past. The Waterless No Flush™ urinal is easier to clean and is designed for retrofit or new construction applications in any type of industrial or commercial facility.

Why Choose Waterless Urinals?
Lower Water Usage
Waterless urinals are revolutionizing the plumbing industry by offering maintenance, operation and cleaning staff a viable alternative to manual and electronic urinals. With no more flushing, waterless urinals can save you up to 100,000 liters of water or more per year per fixture. This represents a massive saving of an increasingly scarce and expensive resource.

Easy Installation and Lower Maintenance
Waterless urinals are easier to install in both new construction and retrofit applications and maintenance is virtually eliminated. Our unit is quicker, easier and cheaper to install than conventional urinals, needing no cistern, flush pipes or bottle trap. And since there are no moving parts, you will no longer have to repair flush valves, or deal with encrustations, plugged drains, overflows or vandalism. Waterless systems also avoid the need for frost and vandal prone plumbing accessories and avoid flooding when bowls block due to scale or sabotage. Washrooms will no longer need to be shut down to remove salt build up in the piping and there will be no risk of flooding or water pressure drop during high peak periods.

Healthier
Regardless of what type of urinals or flushing system you currently have, waterless urinals will make your washroom or restroom a healthier place to be. As well as offering significant water savings, waterless urinals eliminate many of the problems associated with flushing urinals, namely scale, odour, blockage, and subsequent flooding. The waterless urinal is healthier and more hygienic than other alternatives because it is both dry and flushless. With Waterless urinals, bacteria doesn’t have the moisture they need to thrive. The dry urinal surface of the waterless urinal is liquid repellent and hostile to bacteria. Urinals that are flushed are known to spread bacterial aerosols, which then seed nearby wet and damp spots to form new growths. All of this is eliminated with waterless urinals. They eliminate offensive urinal odors by isolating urine from the restroom atmosphere. The EcoTrap®, a special drain insert, contains a layer of BlueSeal® liquid that floats on top of the urine in the trap and forms a barrier against sewer vapor escape. This EcoTrap® barrier is more sanitary than the pool of diluted urine that seals the conventional urinal drain.

How It Works
The Waterless No Flush™ Urinal by Water Matrix looks just like a conventional urinal. It is available in vitreous china, or fiberglass, and installs to a regular 2″ waste-line in new construction, renovations, or retrofit applications. The key to the success of the product is the unique EcoTrap system. A small amount (3 oz.) of an immiscible liquid called BlueSeal floats inside the removable trap. When the urinal is used, the urine passes through this “lighter than water” liquid and down the drain line just as it does in a conventional urinal. The BlueSeal liquid effectively forms a barrier between the drain and the washroom environment, sealing out the urine odor. The dry urinal surface creates a hostile environment for bacteria resulting in an even more sanitary and odor-free fixture. The 3 oz. of BlueSeal liquid will last for about 2000 urinal uses or more before requiring replenishment, making it much more economical than the ever increasing cost of water. By eliminating the flush valve; repairs and maintenance are also eliminated providing even greater savings.

Main Benefits

  • Eliminates urinal odour
  • Eliminates flush valve repair
  • Eliminates water pressure problems
  • Eliminates costly flush sensors
  • Eliminates stoppages and overflows
  • Eliminates vandalism
  • Eliminates line encrustations
  • Eliminates leaking flush valves
  • Eliminates water and sewer costs
  • Eliminates rest room shut downs
  • Eliminates mitigation for water usage

Waterless Urinal Applications

The most obvious beneficiary of a waterless urinal has to be the general public and the maintenance and cleaning staff in charge of maintaining public washrooms and commercial restrooms. Some of the many possible applications might include everything from major department stores, hotels, hospitals, office buildings, restaurants, gas service stations, industrial facilities, to shopping malls and universities.

About Water Matrix
Waterless, Odorless, No Flushometer, No Valve Repairs, No Sensor, No Deodorizer Reduces Vandalism, Reduces Waste Volume, Reduces Maintenance, More Sanitary

With a North American history since 1991, the Water Matrix Waterless No-Flush urinal has established itself as the most economical urinal product available on the market today. Installation of a Water Matrix Waterless No-Flush urinal typically reduces your operating costs by approximately 75% without compromise to a clean and odor-free washroom environment.

Water Matrix introduced the first Waterless urinal to the Canadian market in 2001. Over the past few years similar products have been introduced. Urinals

July 10, 2019 by irving

Irving’s Plumbing supplies a complete line of urinals for commercial and even home use. We specialize in innovative urinal designs, accessories and parts from flush valves to sensors. We supply some of the most popular brand name urinals on the market including Mansfield, Kohler and Sloan. A urinal is a type of specialized toilet designed to be used only for urination and almost always by a standing male. They are smaller than your average toilet, use a lot less water and are much more convenient in a commerical or public bathroom. Waterless urinals represent the latest innovation in developing environmentally friendly toilets for reducing water use.

Urinals are classified according to whether or not they employ a flush valve, and the flush valve iself which determines the flush type, i.e., lever, push button, automatic (battery) and automatic (hardware). While most urinals incorporate a flushing system to rinse the bowl of the device, waterless no flush urinals are starting to appear as a viable alternative. In conventional flush valve systems, the flush can be triggered by one of several methods:

Manual Urinals
The lever type of flush valve might be regarded as standard in North America. Each urinal is equipped with a short lever or a push button to activate the flush, with users expected to operate it as they leave. This flushing method is efficient as long as patrons remember to use it.

Timed Flush Urinals
In some countries where manual flush handles are unusual, the method of flush is a timed flush that operates automatically at regular intervals. Groups of up to ten or so urinals are connected to a single overhead cistern, which contains the timing mechanism. A constant feed of water slowly fills the cistern, until a tripping point is reached, the valve opens, and all the urinals in the group are flushed. Electronic controllers performing the same function are also used. This system does not require any action from its users, but it is wasteful of water where the toilets are used irregularly.

Automatic Flush Urinals
Electronic automatic flushes solve the problems of both previous approaches, and are common in new installations. In these models, the flush valve is either automatic and batter powered, or automatic (hardware). Active or (more usually) passive infra-red detectors identify when the toilet has been used, and activate the flush. Thus the urinal is cleaned where with a manual flush it might not have been, but water is not wasted when the toilet is not used.

Waterless Urinals
Maintaining a public restroom or washroom has to be a major cost for most businesses. Loss of customers, high water usage and high maintenance costs can all add up to a major headache. Waterless urinals not only promise massive savings in water usage, they require no maintenance, are easy to install and clean, and they make your washroom a healthier place for your customers. With no flush valve, waterless systems not only promise to reduce water usage, vandalism, maintenance and repair costs will also become a thing of the past. The waterless urinal is designed for retrofit or new construction applications in any type of industrial or commercial facility.

Lavatories

July 10, 2019 by irving

At Irving’s Plumbing Supplies, we offer a comprehensive range of lavatories from freestanding pedestal lavatories, the classic drop-in, self-rimming lavatories to wall-mounted lavatories. Our lavatories offer you personal comfort with classical style and elegance.

A lavatory should not be confused with a sink. A distinction is made between the two because a lavatory was iniatially designed as a basin for personal washing, while a sink is mainly for washing things such as dishes. Lavatories typically are made from vitreous china and are more delicate than sinks.

Lavatories come in four general types:

1. Freestanding Lavs
Freestanding or pedestal lavatories generally work the best in large bathrooms where there is plenty of storage and where you’re not dependent on a vanity or cabinent around the lav. These lavs are more expensive, as a rule, than the other types.

2. In Counter or flat rim Lavatories – Set into a vanity or counter
Lavs that are set into a counter often are used because the cabinent is custom built to fit a certain space. This arrangement allows the homeowner to choose from a variety of counters, including tile, plastic laminate, and marble. Whe the cabinent is built and installed, the lav itself is installed in a precut hole in the counter. Sinks can be set into counters in one of three ways:

1. An under-counter lav uses the edge of the hole cut into the counter as a rim
2. A self-rimming lav fits into the counter hole and has a rim that rests on the counter.
3. One-piece vanity tops and bowls that fit seamlessly on top of the counter or vanity.

If you don’t mind somewhat limited choices in counters, a one-piece top and bowl is a great way to go. The biggest advantages to this arrangement are that it’s easy to clean and also seamless, which means no chance of water seepage between the edge of the sink and the counter. This is the simplest bathroom lav arrangement possible and is a great idea for the children’s bathroom or a guest bathroom.

3. Above-Counter Lavatories
Lavs that sit on top of counters are know as above-counter basins. These are slowly working their way into tsome bathroom remodels and custom homes. Some consider them to be very stylish, while other s will view them as an inconvenience to use and clean because the outside of the bowl is exposed.

4. Wall Hung Lavatories
Wall hanging models are great for small spaces such as half-baths.

The plumbing to hook up your lav will be the same regardless of the type you choose or its price tag: hot and cold water in, waste water out. If you have plenty of space to fit your lav, then you have plenty of options when choosing a model and style.

Bathroom Lavatories

Bathroom Lavatories are made from a variety of materials including:

  • Vitreous China
  • Enameled Cast Iron
  • Stainless Steel
  • Cultured Marble
  • Polished Brass
  • Polished Copper

Brass and copper are infrequent choices for lavatories and require a lot of maintenance unless you like the weathered, patina look.

Lavatories comes in different designs and shapes including:

  • Vanity-mounted Lavatories
  • Wall-mounted Lavatories
  • Corner Lavatories
  • Rectangle, oval, and round bowls
  • Self-rimming Lavatories: that sit on the top of the vanity
  • Undermount Lavatories: that mount flush to the top of the vanity and are secured underneath.
  • Pedestal lavatories: that hide much of the plumbing behind a narrow pedestal, while vanity lavs conceal everything inside their cabinetry.

Kitchen and Bathroom Faucets

July 10, 2019 by irving

Irving’s Plumbing Supplies carries a comprehensive range of kitchen and bathroom faucets for residential as well as commercial use. Despite the overwhelming variety of faucets to choose from, a faucet is still only a faucet – an end point valve that controls water volume and temperature. Instead of controlling the flow of water through the pipes, a faucet valve allows the water to flow through a spout. We offer residential and commercial faucets with a variety of materials, finishes and in two popular valve types: washer and washerless or cartridge. Our suppliers include major manufactures such as Chicago Faucets, Belanger, Simmons, Delta Commercial, Waltec, Nafphil, Moen, Aquabrass, Grohe, KWC, and Sloan.

There are roughly four different factors to consider when it comes to choosing the right faucet for your unique situation:valve type, material, finish, and design style. With the recent trend towards limited lifetime warranties, your choice really comes down to what is right for you and, as always, affordability.

Visit Delta Faucets Visit Moen Faucets Visit Grohe Faucets Visit Aquabrass Faucets Visit KWC Faucets Visit Sloan Faucets Visit Chicago Faucets Visit NatPhil Faucets

Valve Type: Faucets fall into two basic categories: washer and washerless or cartridge. There are faucets that use a washer, either a rubber or composition disk with a hole in its centre, that closes against a metal seat when the faucet handle is turned. More reliable, durable and easier to repair than washer valves, washerless faucets are the latest in valve technology. While the majority of bathroom and kitchen faucets sold today are single or dual control cartridge faucets (use a movable plastic or brass cartridge), the ball(use hollow plastic or stainless steel ball) and ceramic disc faucets are becoming very popular. Because of their diamond like hardness, the ceramic discs provide a smooth, air tight seal, are resistant to sand, sediment and hard water and widely considered to be the most durable faucet valve on the market.

Material of Construction: most faucet bodies are made from solid brass or zinc die-cast. Solid brass faucets are durable, heavy in weight and resistant to corrosion and calcification. Zinc die-cast faucets are just as durable, but lighter than solid brass and more affordable. While some manufacturers are introducing plastic as viable material of construction that is lighter and less expensive than brass or zinc, it is not as durable.

Finishes: applied to increase durability, enhance maintenance and appearance, the chrome plated finish has always been the most durable and affordable finish. But constantly in need frequent cleaning to maintain its shine, the chrome plated faucet offers little in design flexibility. If you are looking for more style, manufacturers offer polymer finishes with color and brass plated finishes with a polymer coating. Easier to keep clean, but less durable and vulnerable to corrosion, these finishes are entirely dependent on the durability of the polymer coating. A possible solution might be the latest in finish technology, physical vapor deposition (PVD). More resistant to scratching, corrosion and tarnishing than any other type of finish and easy to clean, you might consider the polished brass finish produced by PVD.

Design Styles: there is no end to the style and expense of faucets when it comes to ease of use and temperature control. Faucets are available as either a single or two handle style. The single handle faucet allows you to control both the water volume and temperature with one handle. Functional for the kitchen, this faucet might be a good idea for children and elderly users who may have difficulty adjusting volume or temperature with a two handle type. You can now get a faucets with a retractable pull-down or pull-out spray spout that can alternate from an aerated spray to a stream making sink cleaning and pot filling easier. Some even come with scald protection valves that are great for kids or built-in thermometers that allow you to set the temperature so that adjustment is not needed each time the water is turned on and off.

Garbage Disposals

July 10, 2019 by irving

Garbage disposal is a major concern for everyone. Household disposal systems, restaurant garburators and sophisticated food waste disposals systems all play a role in keeping our kitchens clean and our food safe and free from contamination. A garbage disposal or garburator is an electrical device installed under a kitchen sink between the drain and the U-bend. It shreds food waste into very small pieces so that they can be passed through the plumbing without clogging. Also called a food waste disposal, the most popular models are made by In-Sink-Erator, probably the largest manufacturer of garbage disposals.

There are two kinds of garbage disposals: Continous and Batch Feed

Continuous Feed
The most common is the continuous-feed version; once the unit is turned on — usually by a switch on the wall resembling a light switch — it continues to run and grind food until switched off. Water should always be kept running through the drain when the disposal is switched on to prevent damage to the blades. A continuous feed model can also be operated by an air switch instead of a standard electric switch. An air switch is a small button on the counter or sink which, when pressed, delivers a puff of air to a control unit mounted under the sink. The puff of air makes the control unit start or stop the unit. The main benefits of an air switch are convenience and safety. An air switch is more convenient, because it can be mounted right next to or even on the sink itself, and it is safer because being non-electric, it is safe to touch with wet hands.

Batch Feed
Less common is the batch-feed variety, which will not run until its lid has been put in place and locked; this prevents accidents whereby a child or inattentive adult tries to fish something out of the drain and the unit is accidentally switched on. The other benefit of a batch feed model is that the cover keeps foreign objects such as cutlery falling into the unit while it is running. Such accidents can damage the unit, and nearly always ruin the item dropped in too.

Since the 1940s, In-Sink-Erator® has been the first choice of plumbers, builders and kitchen dealers with good reason: it’s the reliable brand they can install and literally forget. In-Sink-Erator® offers the best-selling food waste disposers, instant hot water dispensers and point-of-use water heaters and their “We Come To You™“ in-home service warranties.

Featuring over 30% more power than any other model, our 777ss is our quietest and most powerful disposer.

By putting an InSinkErator disposer in your kitchen, you’re doing your part to help reduce a growing problem. That’s because when food waste is dumped in landfills, bacteria and other harmful organisms can seep into the ground and contaminate our water. With an InSinkErator disposer, food waste is ground into fine particles and safely flushed into your sewage system. Decades of scientific studies have shown this to be a sound ecological alternative. At wastewater treatment facilities, the food waste can be converted into useful energy, or recycled into agricultural fertilizer.

July 10, 2019 by irving

We offer an exciting collection of whirlpool bath tubs and bathtubs designed to provide the ultimate value in therapeutic healing and luxurious relaxation. If you are thinking about renovating your bathroom or building your very own dream house, think about installing one of our luxurious bathtubs or even a whirlpool. Unlike a a typical bathtub, a whirlpool comes with water jets, its own piping system, a pump and motor and even an inline water heater to maintain a desired water temperature. More expensive than a bathtub, but cheaper than a spa, whirlpools offer you exceptional value for your money. Our suppliers include some of the most well know names in bathroom fixtures including Bootz, Tubco, Neptune and Tomlin.

Even though a whirlpool bath tub is often installed in the same place as your bathtub, it is drained every time you use it and is often bought for its therapeutic value. They cause the body to deliver more blood to your muscles and skin surface using water jets that excite the nerve endings just under the skin. This stimulation makes you feel warm and relaxed and can increase blood flow to specific areas of your body to remove chronic muscle and joint pain.

For the most part, whirlpools come in two styles: conventional apron style and drop-in. Both versions are made of vacuum-molded acrylic and come with a variety of options. The apron style fits in normal sized bathrooms (5 x 7 ft), are less expensive and make easy retrofits. The drop-in are typically built into an elevated deck, either against a bathroom wall or out in the open. It rests on its own base and the deck is built under it. It is larger than the apron-style and is available in a wide range of shapes including ovals, rectangles, diamonds, hearts and kidney shapes.

When it comes to buying a whirlpool, you can choose between a number of jet technologies and between a brush-style, single and multispeed induction motors. The pumps and motors range in horsepower from 1 to 3. Warranties are typically between 1 and 5 years. For the more adventurous, there are many options to consider including on/off switches, air volume controls, electronic touchpads, inline water heaters, faucets, and drain assemblies. The whirlpool or bath that you end up choosing depends on how much room you have to deal with and what you expect it to do for you.

Tubco
The Tubco Whirlpool offers therapeutic powers and total relaxation in the comfort of your own home. Their whirlpools come with ergonomically positioned water jets that can control and adjust the direction and flow of each jet, to achieve a relaxing massage to various part of your body.

Bootz
Bootz has manufactured and marketed porcelain-on-steel products since 1980. The Bootz product line is recognized and accepted among wholesalers, contractors, builders, retailers and consumers. Their latest design in bathtubs combine all the features of Porcelain-on-Steel such as a sanitary finish, acid, corrosion and abrasion resistance, with a molded state-of-the-art material chemically bonded to the tub to ensure structural integrity.

Neptune
Neptune strives to help you design a world of relaxation and leisure where you will be able to maximize your well-being. As opposed to the still waters of a traditional bath, the Neptune whirlpools create a massage of running water whose bubbling invigorates and relaxes the body. More than just a luxury gadget, their whirlpools introduces a new philosophy of well-being into your bathroom.

Tomlin

Ultra Low and High Consumption Flush Toilets

July 9, 2019 by irving

We supply ultra low and high consumption flush toilets, bidets and urinals from Mansfield, Toto, Kohler and American Standard. There is little agreement on what makes a good toilet. While a toilet might be CSA approved, it doesn’t mean that it will perform as well as another CSA approved brand. A comparison in field performance is not an easy thing to make given all the factors that have to be taken into consideration.

The first decision you have to make when choosing a toilet is whether to go for the ultra low (1.6 gpf) or high (3.5 gpf) consumption toilets. Low flush toilets became mandatory in the early 1990s to save on water consumption. Poor flushing performance, however, forced most people to “double-flush” which didn’t save any more water than before. With new investment in technological innovation, the performance of low flush toilets have improved to the point where this no longer a legitimate concern.

Toilets also come in either one or two piece units and are either standard gravity-assisted or vacuum pressure-assisted units. One piece units are generally more expensive than their two piece cousins, but they’re easier to clean and look sleek and fashionable. Most toilets are made from vitreous china for easy maintenance and cleaning. Gravity-assisted toilets flush away wastes strictly by the force and weight of the water contained in the tank. A pressure-assisted toilet, on the other hand, uses compressed air inside a separate tank to force the water out and into the closet bend.

We offer a wide range of toilets from 1.6 gpf to 3.5 gpf, from gravity-assisted to vacuum pressure-assisted, from one to two piece units. Our toilets come in a refreshing new wave of styles, colors, shapes and material – from vitreous china to porcelain.

Sinks, Lavatories and Basins

July 9, 2019 by irving

When it comes to remodeling your kitchen or designing kitchens for a public facitilty, choosing the right style of kitchen sink for your project should be done carefully. We have a wide variety of sinks that come in different styles, shapes, sizes and are made of different materials. Our suppliers include Gerber, Kindred, Wessan and Blanco. The best thing to do when choosing a sink is to remember what you liked or didn’t like about your old sink and try to avoid these features when you look at new ones.

Our sinks come in two popular styles:

Self-rimming kitchen sinks
Flush mounted kitchen sinks

A self-rimming sink is the easiest to install because its rim rests on the counter itself, just outside the perimeter of the hole into which the sink fits. This gives plenty of support and lets you fudge the fitting a bit if your hole is a little too big or small. The drawback to self-rimming sinks – at least with cast-iron and composite models – is the height of the rim relative to the counter. Ever try to sweep crumbs or spilled food off the counter into the sink?

A flush mounted sink is rimless and attaches to the counter via a rim that is mounted independently of the sink. The sink is then attached to the rim with a series of clips. These sinks allow for easier cleaning of the counters, but are more difficult to install.

In the past, kitchen sinks were made from enameled cast-iron and only came in one color: white. Today, more color options are available, and you also can find sinks made from other materials, such as stone composite or vitreous china sinks. One of the biggest bargains is the stainless steel sink. It’s easy to take care of, doesn’t chip, and doesn’t show scratches as prominently as enameled sinks. We supply single, double or triple-bowled sinks with features like sprayers, soap dispensers, and even built-in cutting and drain boards.

Kitchen Sink Suppliers:

Kindred
